The NDP leader made a promise – Jagmeet Singh had this in store…

NDP Party’s Dentistry Promise
This promise originates from an announcement he made in 2019 which stated his desire to help those Canadians without dental insurance. He wanted to implement a program that would subsidize the cost of their dental care.
I’ve heard story after story from people who cannot get their teeth looked after, said Singh. This is where we see one of the greatest divides: If you’ve got the right job, if you have enough money, you can get your teeth looked after. But for everyone else, they’re kind of left high and dry.
The program itself would partially cover the expenses of those who make less than $90,000, and completely cover the costs of individuals who make less than $60,000. The NDP party says the program will benefit 6.5 million Canadians and save families $1,200 a year on average. This announcement is awesome and stands on the foundation of the NDP’s mission.
But how?
The NDP government proposed to cover the expense by placing a 1% tax on households with a wealth of more than $10 million. Once again, this proposition is in line with the party’s values, and sounds reasonable.

More about the party
The NDP party believes in the democratization of mostly everything. They believe that every person deserves the same and equal access to the fruits of society’s labour. This altruistic mission stretches mostly towards every day people. They know that the economy does consistently well for the rich, and would like to spread the wealth. The platform believes that investing in things like health care, affordable housing, and child care can help everyone afford a better life. There are five main precepts of society they wish to assist people with:
- Medicine for all. The NDP party believes that medicine for all is crucial for everyday people. This means affordable pharmacare. This involves comprehensive prescription drug coverage.
- Affordable housing. Many people struggle with paying rent, and end up living paycheque to paycheque and simply surviving. This not only involves creating more affordable options, but halting big name developers from driving up costs.
- Affordable education. The NDP party strongly believes that access to post-secondary education should not solely depend on your parents income, or the amount of debt you can carry. Student debt is a large problem in the country. They plan to We’ll start with forgiving up to $20,000 in student debt, ending interest charges on student loans, and permanently doubling non-repayable Canada Student Grants.
- Affordable cell service. The technological future we live in requires Canadians to have a reliable and high-speed internet and phone service. This would involve making high speed internet an essential service. The rise of remote working due to Covid-19 makes these even more reasonable.
- Better, reliable services. This involves more funding to public services that everyday Canadians rely on. This means investment into public health care, stand up to privatization, restore door-to-door mail, and more.
